Motor vehicle drivers are responsible for 80 per cent of accidents with cyclists caused by inattention. That still leaves 20% the fault of cyclists. As cyclists we are more vulnerable to sustaining injuries compared to other road users, and it requires constant vigilance and awareness of the surroundings in order to stay safe. We must rely upon our vision, hearing, and full ATTENTION in order to best protect ourselves from potential hazards.
Please be aware when crossing west to east across Lonsdale Rd to Patpa Drive, Hallett Cove. The pedestrian/cyclist crossing only extends to the centre traffic island when ‘green’ not across the entire road. You will have to transit using four pedestrian/cyclist crossings (two with lights) in order to safely cross Lonsdale Rd. Crossing this intersection has caught a few of us out in the past due to inattention.
